Testing fediverse comments
There should, hopefully, be comments under the “read more” from the fediverse.
Comments? (Y)es / (N)o / (C)ancel
You should also read:
Fediverse comments with Publii
I decided I wanted something a little slicker than a command line for my new blog so I went with Publii. Unfortunately, that made integrating pulling a thread from Mastodon for comments a little bit trickier than I think it would’ve been otherwise. In this post I’ll go through how I wound up doing it.

@Tijn I don't think it's working D:
@eniko didn't know that was a thing but cool
Don't know if there's a delay, but thus far your blog post comment section seems bereft of my intellectually scintillating reply...
@eniko I'm on a boat, eh, blog
okay well that doesn't seem to be working :(
@eniko I wonder if it take time or if you need to republish?
@eniko I'm not seeing an option to comment, either
eyyy i fixed it! :D
@andre the git repo seemed to have skipped a step in the instructions
@eniko I've read the toot.
Sounds quite like a dance.
Perhaps toot CLI can automate some more steps 🤔
so the only problem i see with this is that there's a circular dependency between the mastodon post and the blog post. i have to post the blog post first, then i have to post a fedi post linking the blog post, then i have to edit the post id back into the original blog post
kinda cumbersome, but workable
@len i just used this: https://github.com/dpecos/mastodon-comments
@eniko Write a mini-game in Kitsune Tails to make it more fun! 🤭
@eniko You doin' this with publii so far? How do you like it?
@photex for more custom stuff like this it's a bit cumbersome compared to jekyll but, i still like it
@eniko i was thinking of doing something similar but it would have an hashtag id "# 1234567" and if people comment with that hashtag would display the comment under the article, that would require people to think of including the hashtag in their post 😅
@eniko Sweet way of handling comments. Thanks for linking the source. Good luck blogging.
@eniko oh the mobile layout is very scrongled now lmao
@eniko@peoplemaking.games <script>alert(":3")</script>
@eniko A comment under your blog post.
@eniko It's a lot of clicking, but I got here!
@eniko@peoplemaking.games Looks cool! How did you got your blog linked to Fedi btw?
@eniko@peoplemaking.games testing from blahaj.zone (running a Misskey fork)
@eniko@peoplemaking.games well that's weird. I see @matty's post there, so it's working from blahaj.zone ... but not mine. sigh. software, amirite?
@jdp23 yeah, not sure why it's not working for some of the later comments. maybe it just has a maximum number of comments it shows? i did read something like that somewhere
@jdp23 yeah if i fetch the status context while unauthenticated then this status is the last one in the list: https://peoplemaking.games/@shanecelis@mastodon.gamedev.place/113114684813556654
not sure how i would work around that if it's possible at all
@eniko@peoplemaking.games hmm, frustrating. just don't say things that too many people want to respond to, I guess!
@eniko hello 😎
